The focus of this design is to create a stronger emotional appeal towards the target audience and to highlight what the story is related to, based on the first look at the cover of the book. And the project is focus on the use of typography.
I wanted the book cover to focus on the book title, therefore, there's lesser distraction on the font type. To better relate to the storyline, I included the silhouette of a man and a little girl. The reason why i use white for the text, “Ghost” is because it is a rather strong word and it tends to relate to horror stories, however, the storyline is not so much on horror. Therefore, i would like to direct more attention to the girl, which i use a dark gray colour.
Besides highlighting the story, the author’s name is also the key highlight. She has been known for her style of writing. Thus, in the front cover, i placed it as the second in hierarchy. And because ‘One Child’ is her first best-selling book, i also placed it in the front cover. This is to leverage from the previous book and to attract the readers of ‘One Child’ to find out more about this book.
